Long time no see + Tumblr.

Basically, college. Yeah.
The past four-ish months have been full of studying, spending time with my friends, and taking each day as it comes. I've stopped trying to figure out my life, because I found that when I do that, it all tends to fall apart. So I just take it as it comes now, and it's working out a lot better. It's like Yoda says - "Always in motion, the future is."
Haven't been drawing much, so I don't know how much I'll be around here really. Maybe I will be over the summer more.

2011 Quiz + Tagged

1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Lived at home alone for two weeks over the summer, went to college in the fall, started training and racing with a real ski club instead of the little high school team at home.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I forget what ones I made last year. No, I honestly do. They were probably something to do with being a better person and growing in my art. I haven't done a lot of art this year, and I'm not sure if I'm a better person or just less shy. Meh.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not someone close to me, but close to my community, yes. I had never known him well, but his death really shook me to the core.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, but within the US I went to California.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Well, I know I need a job or internship over the summer. And I'd like a car, possibly. But only if I end up working or living somewhere that I really need one.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
March 24-26th, and March 30-April 2nd, my last high school ski meets.
July 22nd, the day this boy died. I remember being so cold, and not wanting to believe it.
Also, August 25th, which was the day I left home to go to college.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Winning my second-to-last HS ski meet.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not exactly accomplishing what I hoped to accomplish during my first semester of college.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Flu in January, bad cold/fever/cough in March, flu again in June. For injuries, nothing beyond the usual scrapes and bruises.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My classic poles and skate boots. I lurve them.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Several of my closest friends have been pretty great throughout everything. They have such grace and loyalty that I don't know if I'll ever have.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My own. And honestly, my bestfriend's. As well as another close friend's. Something tells me this wasn't our best year.
14. Where did most of your money go?
College. College. College. Oh, and did I mention college?
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to college to see all my friends, of course!
16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Several, and a different one for each different time of the year. But overall, I would have to say If I Die Young by The Band Perry.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier?
Yes, because I'm not overrun by emotions 24/7.
ii. thinner or fatter?
About the same. If anything, I have more muscle.
iii. richer or poorer?
Poorer, naturally.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spent more time with my closest friends.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinated and rushed things.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
(Assuming this was for 2011 Christmas) With my family at home.
21. Did you fall in love in 2011?
I thought I did. I really thought I did. Now I'm not so sure.
22. How many one-night stands?
None, of course.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
Game of Thrones!
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yes, but only because I didn't know them this time last year.
25. What was the best book you read?
I liked the Hunger Games trilogy, and I read all the Song of Ice and Fire books that have been written so far.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Within Temptation, The High Kings, and The Band Perry.
27. What did you want and get?
A new camera (unexpected, but very welcome!) and my new ski gear that I needed.
28. What did you want and not get?
Good grades. Lmao.
29. What was your favourite film of this year?
So far, Sherlock Holmes 2. But I want to say War Horse, because I have a feeling that I'm going to love it, even though I haven't seen it yet.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Turned 18, and I stayed home and made a cake, went running, and then had a family dinner with another family that's friends of ours.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting much better grades than I got. And having the courage to discuss a few things with a few different people that I know need to be discussed, but I didn't have the courage.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Normal? I dunno, I wore what I normally wear - jeans and t-shirts.
33. What kept you sane?
I'm not exactly sane, but probably music and skiing.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Sean Bean? Haha, my bestie and I are both big fans.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
I got most pissed at the stupid Occupy thing, because it's pointless and retarded.
36. Who did you miss?
My friends, then my family, and now my friends again.
37. Who was/were the best new person(s) you met?
Pretty much all the skiers I met are nice people, but the best new friend I've made is actually a friend of some of my other friends and now he's one of my closest friends too. So it's cool.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011?
If you want something, you have to work for it. And life is short, so make the most of every moment.

I'm gonna say back in March, hanging out at a campfire with two of my closest friends after a ski meet.

I think so. I can't really explain it, but yes.
4. Do you have any good intentions for this year?
Yup! Several.
5. What's your favourite season?
Winter.
6. Do you watch any series or soaps?
Game of Thrones is the only show I watch seriously.
7. What is your favourite sport?
Nordic skiing/biathlon.
8. What's your favourite book?
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
9. What's your dream job?
Being a professional biathlete on the US Biathlon Team. Does that count?

Howdy peeps, did ya miss me?
First things first - a very Merry Christmas to you all, and a happy New Year!
Hope you all have a blessed holiday season. 
Other things - I'm back home from college for winter break, which means I get to spend the next month relaxing in my cozy little room on my nice soft bed, drawing whenever I feel like it, skiing when the weather's good enough, and just refueling in general to go back out there in January and face another three months of classes.
First semester of college was pretty awesome, aside from the fact that my grades didn't all turn out the way I hoped. So I'm determined now to work even harder and get them where they need to be. I'm also changing my focus a bit and probably opting for a course of study that will take less time to complete, but that will help land me in a good-paying job right away.
So yeah, life is good.
I can't promise I'll be more active on dA than before, but I'm hoping to get some more art done while I'm home. Cross your fingers!

1. How much time do you spend on the computer every day?
Oh heck, way too much time. Probably from 5 to 7 hours...or probably more...I don't keep track. I use it for all my homework and other work.

Yupppers! Back home I have two cockatiels and a Small Munsterlander dog.
3. Why are you here on deviantART?
Right now, to keep contact with the awesome peeps I've met here, and to occasionally upload art. Don't have much time for that anymore though.

Violin, and a little bit of guitar.

Stang...18? Yeah, that's right. Sometimes I feel ancient, and sometimes I feel 12 again. Sometimes I don't even know.

Found it through an acquaintance in real life, joined because it looked cool and I wanted to get into art and be more serious about it.
